Hope Bible Study Starting June 6

By Dr. Mark Denison

For too many Christians, the summer is a time to take a vacation – from the things that matter most. While we take time off from work, we also take time off from God. Studies show that believers attend church less in the summer, they give less to Christian causes, and they become lax in their personal devotional lives.

The Hope Center, based in Plano, Texas, is here to help. It starts on June 6.

In announcing a weekly Bible Study open to the public, they say, “There are more self-help and spiritual wellness resources than ever before. But statistics continue to report a significant rise in feelings of hopelessness and helplessness in our society. People feel like they have no answers to guide them, no power to fix their problem – no help and no hope.”

The new four-week Bible Study is rooted in Proverbs 23:13, which says, “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”

The study will be led by June Hunt, founder of The Hope Center, and Debbie Stuart. Weekly sessions will be held in The Hope Center’s Conference Room from noon to 1:00 p.m. Titled There Is Hope, the study will consider four aspects of biblical hope and its impact on the Christian life. To register, visit the website of The Hope Center at thehopecenter.org.

The four studies are as follows.

  • June 6: “Differences between Faith and Hope” (June Hunt)
  • June 13 – “Hope: Connections, Conditions, and Confusion” (Debbie Stuart)
  • June 20 – “Anchored in Hope: Five Anchors You Need in Your Life” (June Hunt)
  • June 27 – “Recognizing Hopelessness and Sharing Hope” (Debbie Stuart)
