Henderson County Crusade Records 600 Decisions!
By Dr. Mark DenisonGod is at it again! On the heels of the Houston Bay Area Crusade, evangelist Rick Gage and Go Tell Ministries conducted a stadium Crusade in Henderson County, Texas. Over four days, April 23-26, Rick spoke to over 3,000 area students in school assemblies, then preached nightly in the Athens High School football stadium to huge crowds.
Over 600 children, students, and adults made public decisions for Jesus Christ! Concluding with a near-capacity crowd Wednesday night, the stadium was filled with praise, led by the Go Tell praise team. It was one of the most significant evangelistic events ever held in East Texas.
Athens Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Paul Essary, said, “This was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in Athens!” Attendee George Leonard described the event as “an outpouring of the Spirit of God on East Texas.” He said the key to the success of the stadium crusade was “churches coming together for the Kingdom of God.”
Rick preached a powerful sermon on hell, with nearly 4,000 present the last night, including over 1,000 students. After filling up on pizza before the service, they were fed the Word of God. Preaching from Luke 16, Rick said the people who will be in hell “will not be there because of their sins, but because they did not trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.” For example, he said, “The drug addict who is in hell is in hell because he rejected Jesus Christ.” He continued, “Hell was not prepared for you, but for the demons.” Rick concluded with a message of hope, quoting 2 Peter 3:9 – “God is not willing that any should perish.”
