Strategic Angel Care

It didn’t take long for Samaritan’s Purse to respond to the first Category 4 hurricane to strike Texas in over 50 years. With flooding unseen in American history, Houston was inundated with over four feet of rain.
“My heart continues to be heavy for the good people of South Texas as they begin to deal with the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse. “We have positioned Samaritan’s Purse disaster relief trucks and materials to move into the hardest hit areas,” Graham said as the ministry prepared to enter the flood-worn areas.
Graham said, “We are praying for God’s protection” for the millions affected by the flood.
Two disaster relief units left their base in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to come alongside homeowners in Jesus’ name. Chaplains came from all over the country in order to assist with spiritual needs.
Samaritan’s Purse works with churches to identify the greatest needs so they can offer services and resources to areas hit hardest. Luther Harrison, vice president of North American Ministries, said the disaster relief teams wait until flood waters recede, in order to best serve homeowners in crisis.
If you would like to volunteer to help in this or other disaster relief projects, check the SP Volunteer Network for the latest information and updates. Last year, 4,997 volunteers assisted 624 families in need after floods in Texas. As a result of their work, not only were millions blessed; 323 came to personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
